Le Jardin D’Amour
APP DESIGN

The Product:
Le Jardin D’Amour is a modern, artistic, garden style floral shop located in the heart of Toronto’s fashion district.
Project Duration:
February 2023-April 2023
The Problem:
Users have a lack of flower delivery shops that cater to all areas of the greater Toronto area, and that give the option to select your own do it yourself arrangements directly from the app and website.
The Goal:
Design a flower delivery app that lets users create and customize unique flower arrangements, with same day and repeat custom delivery options.
My Role:
UX designer leading the app and responsive website design from conception to delivery.
Responsibilities:
Conducting interviews, paper and digital wireframing, low and high-fidelity prototyping, conducting usability studies, accounting for accessibility, iterating on designs, determining information architecture, and responsive design.
User Research: Summary
I used scientific research data to develop interview questions, which were then used to conduct user interviews. Most interview participants reported they were unable to find a flower shop delivery service that allowed them to customize arrangements themselves online. The feedback received through research made it very clear that users would sign up for an account to schedule future deliveries if they had access to an easy to use online ordering system.

Participants:
12 Participants
Length:
15-30 minutes
Usability Study: Findings
1
Users want a dedicated flower delivery service that delivers to all areas of the city.
2
Users want to avoid phone calls with flower shops and would prefer to customize their own arrangements online.
3
Users want a flower delivery service where they can easily schedule repeat orders.
High-fidelity Prototype
The final high-fidelity prototype met user needs for an easy to navigate home page.

Accessibility Considerations
1
Used detailed images of action items to help all users understand the designs and items offered.
2
Added adding alt text to images for screen readers to provide access to users who are vision impaired.
3
Used icons to help users navigate easier throughout the sign in process.
Takeaways
Impact:
The app made users feel like Le Jardin D'Amour really cares about how to meet their needs.
One quote from peer feedback:
“I liked how the app was so structured and easy to understand. It had several features to help me customize how I wanted my affirmations to be presented to me. I look forward to using it again.”
What I Learned:
While designing the Le Jardin D'Amour app, I learned that usability studies are such an important part of the design process as they influenced each iteration of the app’s designs.
Next Steps:
Conduct another round of usability studies to validate whether the pain points which the users have expressed have been effectively addressed. Add a new feature and conduct more user research to determine if it is a need for the user.
